London: Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Ahsan Iqbal has reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening its economic and cultural ties with the United Kingdom. In a meeting with British Parliamentarians at Portcullis House, Westminster, he highlighted Pakistan’s strategy to expand trade and economic cooperation with its key partners to achieve mutual prosperity.
According to a statement by Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Iqbal acknowledged the contributions of British Pakistanis in enhancing bilateral relations and urged further engagement in Pakistan’s development. He presented key economic indicators under Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s leadership, noting a significant reduction in inflation from thirty-eight percent to four percent and substantial growth in Pakistan’s stock market. Exports and remittances have increased by thirty percent, while IT exports grew by thirty-four percent.
The Minister also introduced URAAN PAKISTAN, a national development initiative aiming for the holistic upliftment of Pakistan’s 240 million citizens. He emphasized the initiative’s focus on fostering economic and social progress, balancing economic growth with social development to ensure sustainable and inclusive progress.
Iqbal reiterated Pakistan’s dedication to strengthening global alliances, highlighting the strategic importance of ties with the UK, US, China, Gulf Cooperation Council, and the European Union.
