Vice-Chancellor inaugurates Geographical Information System Centre at College of Information Technology, New Campus

Lahore: Punjab University Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Mujahid Kamran inaugurated the Geographical Information System (GIS) Centre here in the College of Information Technology, New Campus situated behind SUPARCO on Friday. College Principal Prof Dr Syed Mansoor Sarwar, and senior faculty members were also present on the occasion.

Addressing the ceremony, VC Dr Mujahid Kamran said that every human being is independent in choosing any faith in the light of the teachings of Quran and we should establish relationships of respect and love with each other. He said if we could understand the value of continuous hardworking, all the hurdles in our progress would be removed.

He said we should be honest and committed with our work to get perfection in our field and earn a fare income and this was the only source to get happiness in life. He said there should be light of knowledge in our minds and we should consider the mysteries of the universe to achieve success in every field. The Vice-Chancellor said the true purpose of prayer, fast, Hajj, charity was unity, strength and leadership of the world. He said the most disliked act before Allah was creating disturbance on earth.

He said we must make our character strong and keep targets high to get an honourable place in the world. He praised the efforts of Principal Prof Dr Syed Mansoor Sarwar in academic and research development of the College. He said our students were much talented, energetic and capable.

Earlier, in his welcome address, Dr Syed Mansoor Sarwar thanked the Vice-Chancellor for his personal interest and providing liberal aids in establishing GIS Centre. He also paid rich tributes to Dr Mujahid Kamran for his concrete steps in academic and research progress of the varsity.

He informed that the number of PhD faculty members in the College during last four years had been raised from one to 10. He said the College had come out of situation of dispersion and become a united force where another 20 faculty members had been doing PhDs. He said the PU would succeed in getting a place among top universities of the world if the policies of the present administration continued in future.
