Karachi: VIS Credit Rating Company Limited has reaffirmed the entity ratings for Faizan Steel at ‘BBB+/A2’, indicating adequate credit quality and a good likelihood of timely repayment of short-term obligations.

According to VIS Credit Rating Company Limited, the outlook for Faizan Steel remains stable, maintaining the ratings previously announced in January 2024.

Faizan Steel, a partnership concern, operates in Karachi’s S.I.T.E area with a manufacturing plant that includes a direct steel re-rolling mill, a melt shop, and a cooling bed. The firm produces various steel bars and is part of an industry facing high risk due to factors like demand fluctuations and reliance on imported raw materials. Demand for steel bars is linked to construction and public infrastructure projects, but is affected by economic factors such as inflation and high interest rates.

The ratings also consider Faizan Steel’s financial risk profile, noting declining revenue due to reduced sales and vulnerability in margins from inventory and energy costs. While liquidity metrics remain stable, financial constraints are evident through elevated gearing and leverage ratios, driven by increased working capital needs.
