Visit of Pakistan Navy Ship RAH NAWARD, to Varna, Bulgaria to participate in Black Sea Regatta

Islamabad, April 29, 2014 (PPI-OT): Embassy of Pakistan in Bulgaria has made special arrangement for the visit to Bulgaria, of PNS ‘RAH NAWARD’ at Varna Port, to participate in the Black Sea Regatta, from 30th April to 3rd May, 2014.

H.E. M, Jamshaid Iftikhar, Ambassador of Pakistan, will receive the ship on 30th April, along with Mr. Tanveer Ahmed, Deputy Chief of Mission, Col Nauman Siddique, Armay Attache, representatives of Bulgarian Navy and Regatta organizers. The Ambassador and the Captain will hold a Joint Media Briefing in the morning and host a Dinner, on board the ship, which will be attended by Governor of Varna and other senior civil and military officials and friends of Pakistan, in Varna.

‘Rah Naward’ (‘Trail blazer’) is a sail training ship of Pakistan Navy that was commissioned in 2010. It is a twin masted brig ship with 18 sails that cover an area of 949 sq. meters. Total weight of the ship is 4.8 tons and its maximum cruising speed is 13 kns under sail.

Under the command of Capt. Azfar Humayun the ship has been entrusted with the responsibility to import professional, educational, moral, and physical training to the sailors of Pakistan Navy. The ship will take part in a race from Varna Bulgaria, across the Black Sea, to Novorossiysk; Russia. The visit of ‘Rah Naward’ would help further strengthen the linkages and friendly relations between Bulgaria and Pakistan.
