Government committed to ensure rule of law: Saad Rafique

Lahore, April 29, 2014 (PPI-OT): Federal Minister for Railways Khawaja Saad Rafique with the commitment and measures by the government the country would have rule of law in due course of time.

Talking to media at Pakistan Railways Academy Walton here on Tuesday, he said that all the state institutions were operating within their parameters. He said that senior journalists should sit together and formulate code of ethics for good journalism. He further said that freedom of expression and difference of opinion could not be termed ‘treason’.

Responding to a question, the Minister said that judiciary and armed forces’ roles should not be criticised. He said that security agencies were performing their duties with full responsibility and helped Railways whenever needed. To another question, the minister said that there could be ups and down in peace talks process, but the government wanted to have positive results from the talk process.

He further said that salaries of Railway police would be made equivalent to that of the police in four phases. The minister said that standard of PR Academy would be improved and the focus of work would be on neglected areas to enhance the working of Pakistan Railways.
