Islamabad, June 26, 2015 (PPI-OT):Ambassador Farukh Amil visited Kwansei Gakuin University in Kobe to deliver a lecture on “Looking Forward: Pakistan in the 21stCentury”. During his visit he also held meetings with the President, the Chancellor and the management of the university to discuss the opportunities of academic interaction between Japan and Pakistan, says a press release received here today from Tokyo.
In a meeting with Ms. Ruth M. Grubel, Chancellor, Kwansei Gakuin University, he highlighted the efforts of the Government of Pakistan for the promotion of education sector. He also briefed about the leading Universities of the country. The Chancellor appreciated the visit of the Ambassador and informed about the willingness of the management of the university to sign the MoU with the Pakistani universities to encourage academic exchange programme.
Dr. Takahiro Shinyo, Vice President of Kwansei Gakuin University, Mr. Naoto Sugiyama, Dean of School of International Studies, Mr. Tomoharu Washio, Professor, School of International Studies were also present in the meeting.The Ambassador called on Mr. Osamu Murata, President of the University to discuss the establishment of educational linkages between Kwansei Gakuin University and Pakistani Universities. The President thanked the Ambassador for his lecture.
He supported the idea of academic exchanges between the universities. He also said that he would welcome more Pakistani students to the university. The Ambassador delivered a lecture on “Looking Forward: Pakistan in the 21st Century” to the students of the International Department. Members of academia also attended the session.
While speaking on the subject, he explained the Pakistan Japan relations in historical perspective. He elaborated the vision of the Prime Minister of Pakistan for Regional Connectivity, Peace and Development. He also explained Pakistan’s Contribution in the UN Peacekeeping Operations.
While speaking on women empowerment in Pakistan, he said that Pakistan has the highest women representation in Parliament in South Asia as per the latest IPU survey. He said that Pakistan in 21st Century would be a progressive and democratic country having a sustained economic growth and development. It would promote regional peace and prosperity through greater trade and infrastructural linkages.
After the lecture there was a panel discussion. The panelists asked questions about economic growth, political advancement, women empowerment, educational development and cultural differences. The panel discussion was followed by a lively Q and A session from the audience.
