Lahore: Pakistan Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) emerged victorious in both the men’s and women’s categories at the 63rd National Track Cycling Championship, securing top honors against strong competition.
According to a statement by Pakistan Water and Power Development Authority, in the men’s events, WAPDA triumphed over Punjab with a total of 177 points, earning 5 gold, 3 silver, and 2 bronze medals. Punjab, as the runners-up, collected 1 gold, 3 silver, and 2 bronze medals, while the Higher Education Commission (HEC) finished in third place.
In the women’s category, WAPDA outperformed HEC, amassing 172 points and capturing 4 gold, 4 silver, and 2 bronze medals. HEC secured 2 gold, 2 silver, and 3 bronze medals, with Punjab taking the third position in the championship.
The championship took place at the cycling velodrome in Lahore, featuring participation from eight teams across the country, including Police, Pakistan Railways, Sindh, KPK, and Balochistan.
WAPDA’s Izzatullah and Ghazala Munir were named National Champions in their respective categories, earning 50 and 41 individual points, respectively.
