Workshop on Sustainable Mental Health Support Concludes in Lahore

Islamabad: A two-day training workshop on the “Provision of Sustainable Mental Health and Psychological Support (MHPSS) for Return Migrants, Potential Migrants and Disadvantaged Local Population in Pakistan” concluded in Lahore today.

According to Radio Pakistan, the workshop aimed to strengthen participants’ understanding of the core principles of Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS), migration-related psychological distress, and emergency psychosocial response frameworks.

Addressing the concluding session, Assistant Professor NIP, Dr. Humaira Jami emphasized the need for greater focus on migration-related challenges in Pakistan. She stated that the country must adopt comprehensive strategies to address issues such as brain drain and the reintegration difficulties being faced by returning migrants.

Meanwhile, the participants reaffirmed their commitment to applying the knowledge and skills acquired during the workshop to strengthen mental health and psychosocial support services for return migrants, potential migrants, and disadvantaged communities across Pakistan.
