World Day for Safety & Health at Work being observed today

World Day for Safety and Health at Work is being observed today.

The aim of observing the day is to highlight the need of the safety and health of workers keeping in view of the hazardous impacts of climate change.

Meanwhile, in her message on the occasion, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has said that the purpose of this day is to reiterate our commitment to ensure protection and a healthy environment at the workplace.

She said that the Punjab Government has already launched Occupational Safety Drive with cooperation of the private sector.

She said that special attention should be given to workers’ safety gear as their protection is their employer’s responsibility.

The Chief Minister said that amendments are being made in Labour laws and companies not caring about health and protection of workers will be fined.
