World Day of Remembrance held for Road Traffic victims

Islamabad, November 18, 2013 (PPI-OT): To commemorate the international ‘Day of Remembrance for Road Crash Victims’ Motorway Police arranged Road Safety Walks, SpecialBriefings Sessions, and Flag Marches at the Motorway Islamabad Toll Plaza, Islamabad. The ceremony at Motorway Islamabad Toll Plaza was attended by DIG Motorways Muhammad WisalFakhar Sultan and SSP Muhammad Tahir besides other officers of motorwaypolice.

NH and MP has been making hectic efforts to make the roads safer for the commuters and reduce road accidents. The day was observed with reverence to inform the road users about better driving discipline by always wearing the seat belt, observing the speed limit, avoid the use of mobile phone while driving, observing lane discipline, and by using good quality tyres.

The walk, briefing session, and flag march on the day,besides the officers and jawans of motorway police, included a lively mix of people fromvarious strata of society. The participants were urged to adhere to traffic laws to prevent the loss of precious lives and property on road. It was propounded that more than twelve thousand Pakistanis died every year in road accidents which could be prevented by better driving habits and skill.

On this occasion a flag march of patrolling mobiles took place in which more than two dozen patrolling mobiles participated. While talking to media DIG Motorway Police paid rich tributes to the numerous officers of motorway police who had laid their lives while performing duty on the motorways and national highways of Pakistan.

These martyred officers were either hit by speedy vehicles or clashed with dacoits or outlaws saving the lives and property of commuters. He vowed that the officers will strive even harder to make the roads safer. However, special patrolling on motorway was also carried out under the supervision of DIG
