Islamabad: Minister for Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony, Sardar Muhammad Yousaf has emphasized that the Holy Quran is not only a source of guidance but also a complete code of life that every Muslim must adhere to. He conveyed these sentiments during the inaugural ceremony of Pakistan’s first-ever International Husn-e-Qirat Competition in Islamabad.

According to Radio Pakistan, the Minister remarked that hosting the International Qirat Competition in Pakistan is a significant honor and will contribute positively to the country’s global image. He noted that the event is expected to bolster the spiritual connection among Muslim nations. Furthermore, Sardar Muhammad Yousaf mentioned that the current government is actively working to promote a deeper understanding of the Holy Quran, with various initiatives being considered to incorporate Arabic language teaching at different educational levels.

During the occasion, Secretary of the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony, Dr Atta ur Rehman, extended a warm welcome to the participating Qaris and judges. He informed that Qaris from 40 countries are competing in the event, with participants from 12 countries reciting the Holy Quran on the opening day. The competition is set to run until the 27th of this month, with the prize distribution ceremony slated for the 29th.
