14-member Delegation from Civil Services Academy visit Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority

Lahore, November 19, 2012 (PPI-OT): A 14-member delegation from Civil Services Academy, comprising participants of 40th Common Training program for probationary officers, visited Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority (SMEDA) head office today to have awareness on functions of the authority. Mr. Yousaf Naseem Khokhar, Chief Executive Officer, SMEDA presided over the meeting held on this occasion.

Mr. Khurram Khan, GM-Central Support, Dr. Nasir Khan Ghauri, GM-Policy and Planning along with a team of SMEDA experts accompanied CEO to apprise the delegation about SMEDA’s role on SME development. Mr. Farooq Adeel, Additional Director (Research), Civil Services Academy was Incharge of the visiting delegation.

SMEDA Chief, while giving briefing on SMEDA role in economic development of the country told informed that there were 17 projects worth Rs.1,732.69 million under completion with PSDP funds. All of these projects are being developed as common facility centers for various SME clusters and a sum of Rs.907.55 million have been contributed by respective partners from private and public sectors, he said adding that SMEDA was delivering efficiently despite facing a great scarcity of the funds required even to run the organization. Still, we are continuing a lot of development work by involving national and international development agencies, he said.

Later, Mr. Farooq Adeel, speaking as Incharge of the delegation, expressed gratitude to SMEDA management for giving a warm welcome. He acknowledged that SMEDA was working hard to add value in the SME sector, which is a real backbone of the national economy.

The delegation included Mr. Muhammad Asim (Leader of the Group), Ms. Abida Mariam, Ms. Amna Shah, Mr. Arifullah Awan, Ms. Ayesha Saleem Malik, Dr. Anoosh Masood Ch. Mr. Muhammad Ahsan Tahir, , Mr. Muhammad Danish, Mr. Muhammad Umair, Mr. Omer Mahmood Butt, Mr. Rasheed, Syed Muhammad Raza Naqvi, Mr. Wasim Hamed and Mr. Maqbool Ali.
