15% increase in recovery of various taxes as compared to last year: Mukesh Kumar Chawla

Karachi, December 14, 2016 (PPI-OT):Provincial Minister for Excise and Taxation and Narcotics Control has said that during current fiscal year, Excise and Taxation Department has collected Rs.16042 millions in 04 months of the current financial year i.e. uptill October, 2016 in various heads which is Rs.2518 millions more as compared to the corresponding period of previous financial year. This he said while presiding over a departmental meeting here in his office today. Secretary E and T Dr. Mansoor Abbas Rizvi and Director General E and T Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui also attended the meeting.

While briefing the meeting the DG E and T Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui informed that E and T Department had collected Rs.1712.239 millions in term of motor vehicle tax, Rs.11875.857 millions as Infrastructure Cess Rs.179 millions as professional tax, Rs.946 millions as property tax and the rest amount was collected in various heads.

The minister for Excise and taxation, while expressing his satisfaction over tax collections, directed the officers to speed up their efforts for achieving the targets as earliest because all development of the province depending on timely recovery of the taxes. Mr. Chawla was of the opinion that the E and T department was a back bone of the Sindh government regarding tax collections and we are bound to come up to the expectations of the government and the masses as well.

Mr. Chawla emphasized that the efforts may be boosted for the recovery of Property Tax from defaulters for which he directed all the Regional Directors to constitute special teams for the recovery of arrears from defaulters.
