74th Death Anniversary of Liaquat Ali Khan Commemorated

Islamabad: The seventy-fourth death anniversary of Pakistan’s first Prime Minister, Shaheed-e-Millat, Liaquat Ali Khan, was observed on Thursday. Born in Karnal, British India, Liaquat Ali Khan pursued his education at Aligarh Muslim University in India and furthered his studies at Oxford University in the United Kingdom. He played an active role alongside Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah in advocating for a separate homeland for the Muslims in the subcontinent.

According to Radio Pakistan, Liaquat Ali Khan was assassinated on this day in 1951 during a public gathering at Company Bagh in Rawalpindi, a venue that was later renamed Liaquat Bagh in his honor. In recognition of his contributions, President Asif Ali Zardari expressed deep respect for Liaquat Ali Khan, highlighting his significant contributions to the development and stability of Pakistan after its creation. The president noted that Liaquat Ali Khan’s dedication to honesty, national unity, and democratic principles continues to inspire and guide the nation. He emphasized the importance of seeking guidance from the foundational principles established by Pakistan’s founding leaders.
