8th Toyota Dream Car Art Contest award ceremony concludes in Lahore

Lahore, May 07, 2014 (PPI-OT): The last of the three award ceremonies of the 8th Annual Toyota Dream Car Art Contest was held in Lahore today. The event aims to promote art and to create opportunities for children to express their creative imagination through art by drawing a “Future Dream Car”.

Over 6,887 entries were received from schools in the central region of Pakistan. Besides a large number of schools, special children from vocational schools also participated in the Contest. The Toyota Dream Car Art Contest comprises of a series of three regional events with the first held in Islamabad, second in Karachi and the third in Lahore.

The contest displayed the immense talent and imagination of the participating children, ranging from Under 8 year olds up to 15 year olds. A total of 12,000 plus students participated in the ‘Dream Car Art Contest’, nationwide, of which 9 lucky entrants’ drawings will be sent to Japan for the global competition in which 80 countries participate.

The ceremony included chief guest, Mr. Takashi Katae, Minister of Japan Embassy along with the senior management of Indus Motor Company (IMC) to encourage the participating children of the 8th Toyota Dream Car Art Contest.

Speaking at the award ceremony, Keiichi Murakami, Vice Chairman, Indus Motor Company, said, “The contest in all the three regions has been a success, which is apparent through the enthusiastic participation of the children and their schools. The overwhelming number of entries received, underlines the vast talent in the country. The children have participated in ‘Great Spirit’, bringing out their innovative and creative skills. And we are proud to have given them the opportunity to express their dreams through the ‘Dream Car’ initiative.”

IMC has been organizing the Toyota Dream Car Art Contest in Pakistan since 2004 as a part of the global Toyota initiative aimed at developing Toyota brand awareness, affinity and association among young people.

The contest was judged by a panel of experts that includes Uzair Akram, Artist and Designer, Aaliya Yousuf, a teacher at the Indus Valley School of Arts and Architecture and Ambreen Faisal, Art teacher at the World Academy. Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) will hold the global Toyota Dream Car Art Contest later in the year in Japan.
