Islamabad, May 20, 2014 (PPI-OT): A Parliamentary delegation of Swedish Parliamentarians headed by the Speaker of the Riksdag (Sweden Parliament) Mr. Per Westerberg met members of the Women’s Parliamentary Caucus (WPC) today. The meeting was chaired by the Secretary WPC, MNA ShaistaPervaiz Malik.
Secretary WPC and the Speaker of Sweden agreed to bilateral cooperation and exchange on gender-issues between both countries. Talking about contribution of Women’s Parliamentary Caucus in Pakistan Ms. Malik briefed the delegation that the Caucus has been playing a crucial role in uplifting women of the country and accentuating gender-sensitive issues.
Women parliamentarians from all major political parties of Pakistan participated in the meeting. Issues related to health, education and women’s political empowerment in both the countries were also discussed.
