‘Adherence to principles of UN Charter can strengthen system’

Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the UN Ambassador Munir Akram has said the UN system can only be strengthened through strict adherence to all the principles of the UN Charter.

Explaining the position of the Like-Minded Group (LMG) of countries during an Open Debate on the theme of ‘Strengthening the UN System’ in New York, he said reform of the UN should address historical injustices and avoid being manipulated by major powers, while empowering the General Assembly to resolve conflicts and advance disarmament.

Munir Akram said a comprehensive multilateral solution to the ongoing debt crisis faced by many developing nations is urgently needed.
