Karachi, July 15, 2014 (PPI-OT): Administrator Karachi Rauf Akhter Farooqui has directed Parks, Technical Services and Municipal Services department to immediately begin the beautification work of Corridor-I including the repairing, patch-working and carpeting of all roads, flyovers, underpasses, filling of potholes, tree plantation and greenery around central tracks, removal of garbage and waste and maintenance of street lights.
He was inspecting both sides of Corridor-I during a detailed visit from Karsaz to SITE along with the Director General Parks and Technical Services Niaz Ahmed Soomro and other officers of Municipal Services, Parks and Works Department on Tuesday.
Administrator Rauf Akhtar Farooqui went to Liaquatabad and Nazimabad underpass for checking of rain water drainage system where he was informed that all arrangements for drainage of water were already completed. A team deputed for the purpose was working on daily basis in the underpasses.
Administrator Karachi expressed annoyance on this and directed that all of this work must complete today and the drainage pumps should be kept in ready condition. He said all of this should have done until now, drainage pipes must be cleaned completely; I will again check these locations tomorrow. He warned action against the concerned officer in case of staying of rainwater in the underpass.
Administrator Karachi said the repairing and maintenance of roads, bridges, flyovers and underpasses was started in the city whereas work on new and ongoing development works would speed up during fiscal year 2014-15 along with focus on the repairing of all cracked and broken roads, filling of potholes, lifting and disposal of garbage and construction waste and other such works. We have begun this work from Corridor-I.
He said the replacement of curb stones must be done on the whole corridor from Shara-e-Faisal to SITE along with the filling of potholes and carpeting and patch-working wherever it required. Administrator Karachi said work on the beautification of Corridor-II and III and other major roads will be performed after the completion of work on Corridor-I.
