Srinagar, July 15, 2014 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the APHC Chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Hurriyet leaders Syed Ali Gilani, Shabbir Ahmad Shah and Muhammad Yasin Malik have condemned the restrictions imposed by the authorities on the occasion of Kashmir Martyrs Day, yesterday.

The leaders in their separate statements said that such restrictions would not deter the people of Kashmir to continue the mission of their martyrs. They denounced the arrest of Hurriyet leaders and activists.

Other Hurriyet leaders including Aasiya Andrabi, Muhammad Yousuf Naqash, Shabbir Ahmad Dar and Farida Behanji in their statements termed the award of sentences to the Kashmiri youth by Indian courts as political vendetta.

A resolution passed at a session of Jammu and Kashmir Awami Action Committee maintained that the Kashmir dispute should be resolved by implementing the relevant UN resolutions. The session was chaired by Mirwaiz Umar Farooq.

The Kashmir Centre for Social and Development Studies during a roundtable conference in Srinagar opposed the authorities’ plan to settle the Kashmiri Pandits in separate colonies terming it an attempt to divide the Kashmiri society on communal lines.

Political leaders and religious scholars including Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, Muhammad Abdullah Wani and Mufti Bashir-ud-Din in their statements condemned the Israeli attacks on Palestinians in Gaza and appealed to the people to boycott the Israeli products in protest.
