Administrator Karachi visits Karachi Institute of Heart Disease

Karachi, February 04, 2014 (PPI-OT): New sources of income should be found for running Karachi Institute of Heart Disease properly. Transfers of doctors, nursing staff, technician and paramedical staff from department has been banned and a study report should be prepared in which this should be reviewed that 50 percent part of the hospital should be privatized for generating revenue which would be spent on betterment and development of this hospital and treatment of poor people. Angiography of the patients should be done through all cardiac echo machines so that more patients could be facilitated.

It was decided on the occasion of a detailed visit to Karachi Institute of Heart Disease paid by Administrator Karachi Rauf Akhtar Farooqui.

According to details Administrator Karachi paid a detailed visit to KIHD on Tuesday where he was accompanied by Sr. Director Medical Services Dr. Muhammad Ali Abbasi, Deputy Executive Director Dr. Siraj, Consultant Dr. Muhammad Ashraf and other officers.

He said that it is our first priority to provide common citizens with treatment facilities and citizens also have expectations with the hospital.

He said that it is the only hospital in public and government sector where patients were cured on very low fee whereas latest machines for heart diseases were also available in the hospital.

KIHD is the first heart institute where latest machines of angiography were installed which have the capability to diagnose diseases immediately. A library regarding heart diseases was also established in the hospital in which books about heart diseases and medicines were kept which were very useful for students and researchers.

On this occasion it was informed in a briefing that 350 to 400 patients come for OPD in the hospital on daily basis who were provided OPD facility with only Rs50 fee whereas 7 to 10 heart patients in serious condition were brought to hospital and only Rs100 fee was initially taken from them.

He said that after installation of city angiography machine with a cost of Rs120million heart patients were being provided with better treatment facilities and this machine was very helpful for saving precious lives. Cardiac echo machines were now increased from 3 to 5 which would provide more facilities to patients.

On this occasion Sr. Director Medical Services requested Administrator Karachi that more heart specialists and paramedical staff were required to start new block of hospital properly.

Administrator Karachi during his visit also inquired about the condition of patients and facilities being provided in hospital and met with the surgeon Dr. Syed Asadullah Hussaini and other doctors.
