Advisor to German Chancellor’s visit to Pakistan

Islamabad, December 05, 2013 (PPI-OT): Advisor to German Chancellor Angela Merkel on Foreign and Security Policy, Dr. Christoph Heusgen arrived in Pakistan today at the invitation of Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs, Syed Tariq Fatemi for bilateral consultations. Dr. Heusgen called on the Prime Minister, the Advisor to the Prime Minister on National Security and Foreign Affairs, Mr. Sartaj Aziz and Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs, Syed Tariq Fatemi.

During his call on the Prime Minister, Dr. Heusgen conveyed the regards and best wishes of Chancellor Angela Merkel. The Prime Minister conveyed his felicitations to Chancellor Angela Merkel on her party’s victory in the German elections. The Prime Minister also expressed appreciation for Germany’s key role in promoting Pakistan-EU relations.

In Dr. Heusgen’s meeting with Mr. Sartaj Aziz, discussions were held on bilateral relations and regional issues.In the meeting with Syed Tariq Fatemi, the two sides covered the entire gamut of Pakistan-Germany bilateral relations and other matters of mutual interest. The Special Assistant briefed Dr. Heusgen on Government’s priorities in economic and social sectors both during the meeting and at the lunch hosted in honour of the German delegation.

Dr. Heusgen also met the Ministers of Defence and Interior.
