Air Services Agreement between the Islamic Republic of Pakistan and the Republic of Latvia

Rawalpindi: Bilateral Air Services Agreement (ASA) talks between the Islamic Republic of Pakistan and the Republic of Latvia were held in Rawalpindi. The Pakistan delegation was led by Major General Raja Muhammad Arif Nazir, Additional Secretary-I, Ministry of Defence while the Latvian delegation was headed by Mr. Arnis Muiznieks, Director, Air Transport Department, Ministry of Transport, Latvia.

Both the sides discussed issues of mutual interest in the field of Civil Aviation. The atmosphere of the talks was quite friendly.

As a result of successful talks, both the countries initialled the text of Air Services Agreement (ASA), besides, signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). As per MoU, a total of 10 weekly flights were granted to each sided on the basis of reciprocity.

Baltic Airlines, the designated carrier of Latvia, is entitled to commence seven (07) weekly flights to / from Karachi and three (03) weekly flights entitled to commence a total of ten (10) weekly flights to / from points in Pakistan to Riga, the Latvian capital.

It is hoped that the agreement would go a long way in furtherance of bilateral relations, as previously no such agreement existed between the two countries.
