AKD Securities Limited – Market Summary

Karachi, April 03, 2015 (PPI-OT): Bull Run continued at local bourse on last session of the week as well to end the week at flourish note. Today session started on upbeat note and continued the momentum till the end of the day. Cement and Electricity sector were the pick of the sectors’ as the both sectors have strong fundamentals. However, oil exploring companies remained in red zone amid fears of further slide in oil prices on Iran nuclear deal.

At close, the Karachi Stock Exchange’s (KSE) benchmark 100-index up by 0.9% or 281.71 points to end at 31,414. Volumes at KSE-100 index clocked in at 195.7 million shares, up by 33%. Trading value at local bourse increased to Rs 11.7 billion against Rs 9.6 billion. The advance to decline ratio in the broader market remained in the favour of bulls.

Out of 348 scrips, 256 scrips advanced, 75 scrips declined while the value of 17 scrips remained unchanged. Moreover, KSE-100 index added 1,456 points or 4.86% on WoW with average daily traded volume of 188.65 million shares.

Bullish sentiments prevailed at Karachi Stock Exchange. In Electricity sector NCPL, NPL, LPL and PKGP surged by 1.97%, 4.33%, 4.84% and 4.29% respectively. In Cement sector DGKC, CHCC and FCCL increased by 4.69%, 4.85% and 4.08%, while FECTC, MLCF and KOHC hit the upper limit. In Commercial Banks sector AKBL, BAFL and NBP extended their scrip value by 3.62%, 5.0% and 4.92% accordingly. In Oil and Gas Sector OGDC, POL, PPL and PSO shed by 2.89%, 4.85%, 2.34% and 2.05% respectively.

In volume chart, TRG remained the volume leader with 28.78 million shares, closed at Rs 15.91 by adding Rs 0.97 followed by PAEL with 22.86 million shares closed at Rs 50.78 by gaining Rs 2.41. JPGL remained 3 rd in the volume chart with 19.95 million shares and closed at Rs 3.83 by surging Rs 0.58. Major trading activities witnessed in Electricity sector as traded above 54.72 million shares followed by Cement sector with 49.98 million shares. Support Services sector parked at 3 rd place by trading above 28.78 million shares.

While top gainers of the day were Exide (Pak) and Siemens Pak with price change of Rs +56.17 and Rs +49.89 respectively. Top losers of the day were Murree Brewery and Pak Tobacco with the price change of Rs -49.95 and Rs – 31.01 respectively.
