Karachi, October 28, 2015 (PPI-OT): All the chambers of commerce of Pothohar region have announced their unconditional support to the candidate of United Business Group (UBG) in the upcoming elections of the FPCCI. This was decided and announced at a luncheon hosted by former president FPCCI in honour of newly elected office bearers of different chambers and associations.
Those who were present on the occasion included President Chakwal Chamber Khawaja Arif, President Jhelum Chamber Mehr Ilyas Alam, group chairman of RCCI Sheikh Shabbir, and representatives of ICCI and IWCCI. Representatives of marble, steel rerolling, REAP, chemists, small chambers and poultry associations were also present on the occasion who announced unconditional support to the UBG in forth coming elections terming Abdul Rauf Alam the best choice.
They said that we have pinned high hopes on the nominee of UBG and lauded the decision of UBG leaders SM Muneer and Iftikhar Ali Malik. Speaking at the occasion Abdul Rauf Alam said that he will try to come up to the expectations of his superiors and the business community at large.
He said that his doors would be open for the business community and that small traders would be given preference. Abdul Rauf Alam said that FBR should consult respective chambers or associations before raiding business premises which is not going down well with the businessmen.
He called upon the business community to come forward and pay taxes which is necessary to keep the government running. There are around eight hundred thousand taxpayers in a country of two hundred million out of which only half pay taxes while the other half pay no or negligible taxes, he lamented which is barring growth of country and hitting social services.
