NIA Attaches Properties of Kashmiri Resident Under Anti-Terror Law

Srinagar, The National Investigation Agency (NIA) of India has escalated its operations against Kashmiri individuals by attaching properties under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA). The agency targeted Asif Ahmed Malik, arresting him in January 2020 and alleging connections with the militant group Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM).

According to Kashmir Media Service, the NIA secured an order from the Special Court in Jammu to attach six properties owned by Malik, located in Mirpora, Pulwama. This action is part of broader efforts by Indian authorities to suppress dissenting voices in the region, utilizing stringent provisions of the UAPA to immobilize the financial assets of individuals accused of supporting militant activities.
