Fatima Jinnah Medical University Advances Medical Education and Research in Latest Syndicate Meeting

Lahore, The 37th syndicate meeting of Fatima Jinnah Medical University was presided over by the Provincial Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafiq, focusing on key educational initiatives and medical advancements. The session confirmed previous decisions and introduced new projects including a notable Oral and Maxillofacial Center at Gangaram Hospital.

According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Punjab, the meeting was attended by high-profile educational and health leaders, including Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Khalid Masood Gondal, and representatives from various health and education departments. Discussions emphasized the enhancement of medical training and research, notably approving the curriculum for a four-year BS Midwifery program and green-lighting procurement for the Punjab Thalassemia and Genetic Disorder Prevention Institute. Additionally, Minister Rafiq underscored the importance of modern research and healthcare facilities in Punjab’s medical schools and led a walk for World Thalassemia Awareness Day, advocating for mandatory pre-marital thalassemia testing.
