Punjab Police Extends Crucial Support to Thalassemia Patients on World Awareness Day

Lahore, On World Thalassemia Awareness Day, Inspector General of Police Punjab, Dr. Usman Anwar, highlighted the proactive role of Punjab Police in supporting treatment efforts for children affected by thalassemia, particularly those from police families.

According to Punjab Police, Dr. Anwar detailed the extensive contributions of the department, including organizing blood donation camps across all districts and partnering with thalassemia organizations to ensure a steady supply of necessary blood donations. He also spotlighted the “Hamaray Phool Project,” an initiative that provides financial assistance to thalassemia-affected children of police personnel, offering a monthly stipend of Rs. 15,000 per child. Currently, 150 children benefit from this program, with a total of Rs. 2,50,65,000 disbursed for their treatment since last year.

Dr. Anwar assured continued commitment to these efforts, emphasizing that health welfare measures are in place to support the families of police officers, including collaborative treatments with hospitals and welfare institutions. This initiative underscores Punjab Police’s dedication not only to law enforcement but also to the welfare of its personnel and their families.
