Islamabad: Permanent Representative of Pakistan to the United Nations, Ambassador Asim Iftikhar Ahmad, has called upon young leaders to take an active role in renewing multilateralism and promoting global peace. During a ceremony at the United Nations, Ambassador Asim highlighted the necessity of multilateralism in addressing global challenges, which cannot be solved through division or unrestrained power.
According to Radio Pakistan, Ambassador Asim Iftikhar emphasized that multilateralism is essential in today’s world due to interconnected issues such as conflict, climate change, pandemics, and economic instability. He pointed out that these challenges require coordinated, inclusive, and rules-based solutions. Ambassador Asim reaffirmed Pakistan’s strong support for the United Nations, acknowledging that despite its imperfections, multilateralism remains the most legitimate framework for peacefully managing differences, promoting shared prosperity, and upholding international law and the UN Charter.
He further noted that Pakistan, with its significant youth population, recognizes young people as a source of creativity, resilience, and hope. The country fully supports their meaningful participation in strengthening multilateralism, building peaceful societies, advancing inclusive development, and reinforcing international cooperation.
