Ambassador of Ghana visits Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry

Islamabad, October 02, 2012 (PPI-OT): Haji Fazal Kadir Khan Sherani, President, the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) stated that Pakistan and Ghana are enjoying amicable and cordial relations while welcoming H.E.Mr. Ahmed Hassan, Ambassador of Ghana who visited FPCCI on October 1, 2012.

He also informed about historical support extended by Pakistan to the African states particularly OIC member states in which Ghana has significant importance. Mr. Ahmed Hassan presently, the ambassador of nine different countries including Pakistan, Iran, Georgia, CIS and Syria etc. also the Chief of Protocol and Director General Asia Desk.

Haji Fazal Kadir Khan Sherani expressed serious concern over low level of bilateral trade between the two countries. He told that volume of bilateral trade during 2011 is just US $ 19 million which is negligible and concerted efforts should be made to prepare a road map and move forward.

During the meeting proposals for increase in bilateral trade was jointly presented by Haji Fazal Kadir Khan Sherani and Dr.Mirza Ikhtiar Baig which included, visa relaxation and simplification of process, establishment of Business Council at both the ends, participation in trade exhibitions, exchange of trade delegations and joint venture in textile, food processing, energy, mining etc.

H.E. Mr.Ahmad Hassan stated that he is satisfied with today’s discussion and would take up all the relevant quarts, for enhancing bilateral trade. He further assured that on the recommendation of FPCCI President, all office bearers will get gratis visa.

He also told that Ministry of Trade Ghana and Trade Promotion Council Ghana will support FPCCI trade delegation. Ambassador also proposed for establishment of Pak-Ghana Joint Ministerial Commission (JMC).

He also appreciated proposal for holding single country exhibition in Ghana for display of Pakistani products. He further suggested for establishment of Ghana Trade Centre in Pakistan for promoting their products. Formation of Pak-Ghana Business Council (BC) leading to Pak-Ghana JBC was also discussed during the meeting.

The meeting was attended by Sardar Shaukat Popalzai, Chairman, FPCCI Standing Committee on Counter Terror and Special Security, Mir Nasir Abbas, Director General (IA), FPCCI, Mr.Nasir Mirza, Assistant Secretary General, FPCCI, Mr.Ahmad Zaman Khan, Director (EA), FPCCI.

Meeting was concluded with the presentation of FPCCI crest to H.E.Ahmed Hassan, Ambassador of Ghana.
