No compromise on martyrs’ sanctity, dignity: Defense Minister

Minister for Defence Khawaja Muhammad Asif says there can be no compromise on sanctity and dignity of our martyrs and the security forces.

In an interview with Suno FM, he said freedom of expression has well-defined contours and there can be no misuse of this freedom.

Referring to the unfortunate incidents of May 9 last year, the Minister said no patriotic citizen can even think of violating the sanctity of national heroes and martyrs. He said politics of cult cannot sustain for long.

To a question about Pakistan Army’s role in development initiatives, Khawaja Asif said state institutions safeguard the country in case of emergency situations, be they conventional situations like wars or unconventional like economic crisis.

He added that it is in this context that Pakistan Army is playing its role in important development initiatives like Special Investment Facilitation Council which is crucial for beefing up country’s investment portfolio.
