Ambassador of Ukrine calls on Qaim Ali Shah

Karachi, August 31, 2012 (PPI-OT): The Ambassador of Ukrine Mr. VOLODYMYR LAKOMOV today called on Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah at CM House. He was accompanied by First Secretary of Ukrine Mr. ANDREY ROMANENKOV, Hon. Consul General Engineer M.A Jabbar and Director Pak-Ukrine business council Farooq Afzal.

Principal Secretary to CM Mr. Muhammad Siddique Memon was also present. Chief Minister Sindh welcomed the Ambassador of Ukrine and informed him detailed performance, economic aspects and progress in development schemes.

Chief Minister Sindh informed that after 18th amendment in Constitution, the provinces can directly negotiate and make agreements with foreign countries aimed at progress and prosperity of country. Citing example of Korean company, Syed Qaim Ali Shah said that dual carriage way between Hyderabad and Mirpurkhas is one of them, completed under Public Private Partnership mode.

He said that there is acute need of cooperation from Ukrine for agriculture and industrial sectors. He said that for redressal of problems of Sindh pertaining to economic development, there is need of mutual cooperation. He stressed that working paper could be prepared for various aspects including coal mining and power generation.

Ambassador Ukrine thanked for warm welcome and hospitality, and informed that the Government of Ukrine and various private organizations are interested in economic development of Sindh province. He added that Ukrine possess big experience in coal mining and possess huge machinery and the government and private companies of both companies can take part in coal mining and power generation in Thar area.

He assured his full support for guidance and initiatives. He informed the Chief Minister Sindh that there are Wind Turbine manufacturing factories in Ukrine and the same will be beneficial in wind corridor in coastal areas of Sindh. He added that Ukrine is an agriculture country, and the production / yield per acre is high there, as such the Agro-Science can be used in Sindh.

He also invited the Chief Minister Sindh to visit Ukrine and have negotiation for economic development for Sindh province. Later the Chief Minister Sindh presented traditional gifts of Khais, Ajrak and Sindh caps to Ukrine delegation.
