Analysts Hail Field Marshal Asim Munir for Terming Pak Army, China’s PLA as Brothers-in-Arms

Rawalpindi: Analysts have praised Field Marshal Asim Munir’s remarks, describing the Pakistan Army and China’s People’s Liberation Army (PLA) as “brothers-in-arms.” The remarks were made during a ceremony in Rawalpindi celebrating the 98th anniversary of the founding of the PLA, highlighting the longstanding and strengthening relations between the two military forces.

According to Radio Pakistan, Air Vice Marshal (R) Ijaz Malik, a defense analyst, emphasized the historical ties between Pakistan and China, noting that the PLA’s initial military relations with Pakistan have grown increasingly robust over time. The Pakistan military’s use of Chinese equipment, co-production ventures like the JF-17 Thunder, and broader cooperation underscore the multifaceted nature of this partnership. The ceremony in Rawalpindi, set against the backdrop of global shifts from a unipolar to a multipolar world, is expected to have significant implications for military relationships and regional security. Malik also highlighted China’s respect for Pakistan’s sovereignty and its non-interference in Pakistan’s international alliances, such as CETO and CENTO.

Dr. Zahid Anwar Khan, an international relations expert, noted that the strategic partnership between Pakistan and China has deepened over time, particularly under the vision of President Xi Jinping. The Field Marshal’s statement at the ceremony reflects the high-level closeness between the two nations. Khan pointed out the cooperation across various sectors, including defense, economics, and technology, citing the launch of a Pakistani remote sensing satellite from China as a testament to their strong bilateral space cooperation. This collaboration aims to maintain regional peace and stability, especially in the face of aggressive postures from neighboring India. Pakistan’s defensive stance, in contrast to India’s hegemonic ambitions, is supported by technological and technical cooperation with China, aiming to ensure regional peace and stability.

The analysts’ remarks highlight the strategic importance of the Pakistan-China partnership in the current geopolitical context, reinforcing the enduring alliance between the two nations.
