Islamabad: Analysts have praised Pakistan for its diplomatic efforts in the Middle East crisis, highlighting the country’s role in mediating between the United States and Iran. Former diplomat Amb. Imran Ali Chaudhry emphasized that Pakistan’s diplomatic initiatives have been widely appreciated globally. He noted that the consultation between Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and Pakistan, along with Oman, is significant amid the current regional situation. Chaudhry stated that Iran had clarified it would not visit Islamabad for talks with the US, leading to the cancellation of the US envoys’ visit to Islamabad. Pakistan’s sincere diplomatic efforts to achieve a ceasefire between the US and Iran have been unmatched by any other UN member or mediator. Despite these efforts, peace in the Middle East remains elusive due to ongoing civilian casualties in Lebanon and the economic blockade of Iran.
According to Radio Pakistan, former diplomat Amb. Haroon Shaukat expressed satisfaction with Pakistan’s civil and military leadership’s diplomatic role between Iran and the US. He observed a hopeful path towards a peace agreement, noting the absence of both the Iranian foreign minister and the US team in the region. Shaukat highlighted Pakistan’s role in conveying messages between the US and Iran, underscoring the country’s commitment to regional peace and harmony. He speculated that Iran and Oman might have discussed the maritime boundaries of the Strait of Hormuz, and emphasized that the real issue is the complex attack on President Donald Trump at the White House. Shaukat also pointed out ongoing tensions in the Middle East, including the genocide of Palestinians in Gaza and killings in Lebanon by Israeli forces, as threats to global peace.
Dr. Abdullah Gul, a defense analyst, commended Pakistan’s exemplary diplomacy in defusing the Middle East situation, bringing the US and Iran to a ceasefire. He described the White House incident as shocking and called for an independent inquiry. Gul criticized India’s refusal to allow an independent inquiry into the Pahalgam incident, which he described as a false flag operation by the Modi government to divert attention from internal issues. He noted that the UN also demanded an inquiry into the incident, which India denied, and stated that the global community has rejected India’s narrative against Pakistan.
