Annual bilateral political consultations with Sweden held

Islamabad, December 10, 2015 (PPI-OT): Annual Bilateral Political Consultations between Pakistan and Sweden were held in Islamabad at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs today. The Pakistan side was led by Additional Secretary (Europe) Mr. Rafiuzzaman Siddiqui while Ms. Helena Paivikki Sangeland, Deputy Director General and Head of Department for Asia and Oceania led the Swedish delegation.

During the Consultations, the two sides reviewed the entire gamut of bilateral relations and looked into various possibilities of extending cooperation in political, economic, cultural and educational fields as well as cooperation at international fora including the United Nations. It was agreed that the two countries will work in areas of renewable energy, water purification, solid waste management and transport.

The two sides also exchanged views on global and regional issues. The talks were held in a friendly and cordial atmosphere. It was agreed that the next round of Political Consultations would be held in Stockholm on mutually convenient dates in 2016.
