Anti Narcotics Task Force foils bid to smuggle 50 kgs heroin through container

Islamabad, October 21, 2014 (PPI-OT): ANF hauled up 50 Kgs of fine quality Heroin from a container at Karachi Sea Port. In other 3 operations at Rawalpindi, Lahore and Karachi, ANF recovered 28.3 Kgs of Charas and arrested 3 offenders involved in drug trafficking. The value of seized drugs amounts toRs. 334 Million approximately in International Market.According to details, ANF Karachi Seaport Team received information of Heroin smuggling by container carryingtin packed food or beverages at Karachi Sea Ports.

Acting upon the information, a high alert was imposed at all sea ports and all containers carrying suspicious stuff was put through strict security.During the watch, ANF Sea Port Teams felt shortage of manpower, so under special circumstances it was augmented but no compromise was made on round the clock hunt.

The search continued for seven days, lastly a container was spotted at International Container Terminal, which was carrying Nestle Juices of 250 ml and 1 liter juice packs. The container was loaded with 1800
cartons, each carrying 12 packs of Nestle juice. Out of 21,600 juice packs, 300 juice packs of 1 liter contained polythene sachet packets.

These packets were water-proof and were dipped inside the juice. The juice cartons were repeatedly wrapped with polythene to avoid dog sniffing. A total of about 50.18 Kgs of fine quality Heroin was recovered from the shipment. According to initial information shipment was dispatched by two business parties from Lahore and Faisalabad and was destined for Malaysia.

A few individuals are under interrogation and ANF teams are operational to arrest the complete net at different locations. ANF Karachi raided a house situated at Ali Goth, Ibrahim Haideri, Malir, Karachi and
seized 25 Kgs of Charas from the scene. Reportedly, the premises were being used as narcotics den. However, two offenders namely Saleem Khan and Ayaz Khan, both residents of District Mansehra succeeded to flee from the scene.

ANF Rawalpindi apprehended two real brothers namely Muhammad Arif and Hikmat Khan, residents of Islamabad and recovered 1.1 Kg of Charas from their personal possession. They were taken into custody near a Grave Yard, Kuri Bus Stop, Rawalpindi City, while travelling on a motorcycle. Charas was concealed in a shopping bag. Motorcycle was also seized during the operation. According to initial investigations, both accused are involved in drug peddling and were proceeding to a nearby locality for supply of drugs.

ANF Lahore arrested Irfan Khan s/o Salam Dad and recovered 2.2 Kgs of Charas from his personal possession. He was arrested from Abdullah Travels Bus Stand, Bund Road, Lahore. According to reports, the accused is a paid drug carrier and belongs to District Nowshehra. He came from Peshawar with the purpose to deliver drugs to a local peddler at Lahore City. Cases have been registered against all the arrested accused under CNS Act 1997 and further investigations are under progress.
