Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar to Represent Pakistan at 15th OIC Summit in The Gambia

Islamabad, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar is set to lead the Pakistani delegation at the upcoming 15th Summit of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in Banjul, The Gambia, scheduled for May 4-5, 2024. This summit convenes as the Muslim world faces several critical issues, notably the ongoing conflict in Gaza.

According to Kashmir Media Service, prior to the summit, the delegation will participate in the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers’ Meeting on May 2-3, where key agenda items and outcome documents for the summit will be discussed and finalized. This preparatory meeting will set the stage for the summit discussions, focusing on urgent matters facing the Muslim Ummah today.

The summit is particularly significant given the current hostilities in Gaza. It will serve as a platform for OIC leaders to express a unified stance on the Palestinian issue, among other pressing global challenges. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs highlighted that the gathering would address the situation in Gaza, the self-determination rights of the people of Jammu and Kashmir, rising Islamophobia, climate change, terrorism, and other contemporary issues.

Deputy Prime Minister Dar is expected to present Pakistan’s views on these issues, emphasizing the need for unity and solidarity within the OIC and proposing collective solutions to the challenges confronting the Muslim nations.

In addition to his role at the summit, Ishaq Dar will engage in bilateral talks with other leaders and foreign ministers attending the summit, further discussing bilateral and global matters of mutual interest.
