Pakistan’s Leadership Commits to Enhancing Worker Rights and Welfare

Islamabad, On International Labour Day, President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif pledged the government’s commitment to improving labor welfare and safeguarding workers’ rights across the country. This commitment was highlighted in separate messages from the leaders, who both emphasized the importance of ensuring fair wages, safety, and training for workers, particularly those in hazardous jobs.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, President Zardari called on employers to adopt fair wage practices and improve safety measures for their workers, reflecting on the government’s dedication to upholding the dignity of laborers. Prime Minister Sharif acknowledged the sacrifices of workers and announced the upcoming National Tripartite Labour Conference, focusing on safety and health issues. He also detailed the government’s ongoing efforts to enhance living conditions for workers through better housing, education, healthcare, and social security benefits.

Chairman Senate Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani also contributed to the day’s messages, affirming the significant role of labor in national progress and underscoring government actions to enforce labor laws and protect worker rights.
