Cholistan: A groundbreaking initiative aimed at transforming agriculture has been launched in Cholistan under the banner of the Green Pakistan Initiative. The program seeks to consolidate various agricultural services, offering them under a unified platform to support farmers more effectively.
According to a statement by Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the initiative includes the inauguration of several key facilities: the Green Agri Mall and Service Company, a Smart Agri Farm, and an Agricultural Research and Facility Centre. These facilities were introduced at a launch ceremony attended by prominent officials, including Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, Federal Ministers Rana Tanveer Hussain and Musadik Malik, and Chief of Army Staff General Asim Munir.
The Green Agri Mall and Service Company is set to provide essential agricultural supplies such as quality seeds, fertilizers, and pesticides to farmers at discounted rates, conveniently delivered to their doorsteps. Additionally, the initiative makes advanced agricultural machinery, including drones, available to farmers on affordable rental terms.
A significant component of the initiative is a state-of-the-art agricultural farm covering five thousand acres. This model farm will demonstrate modern agricultural techniques, focusing on advanced irrigation systems and water-efficient farming to reduce costs and boost crop yields.
The Agricultural Research and Facility Centre will serve as a hub for agricultural research, offering vital laboratory services like soil testing. It is designed to collaborate with agricultural institutions nationwide, enhancing the sector’s knowledge and innovation capabilities.
During her address, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif expressed that the launch of these projects marks a pivotal step in advancing the prosperity of Punjab’s farmers, emphasizing the intrinsic link between agricultural development and national growth. Her remarks underscored the initiative’s potential to revolutionize modern agriculture in Pakistan.
Army Chief General Syed Asim Munir praised Punjab’s leadership in the agricultural sector, highlighting the province’s role as a powerhouse in modern farming. He commended the swift progress achieved under the Green Corporate project, assuring continued military support for the country’s economic advancement.
