Islamabad: The Hon’ble Chief Justice of Pakistan, Mr. Justice Yahya Afridi, visited the SOS Village in Hayatabad, Peshawar, an institution that his late father Umer Khan Afridi supported throughout his life. Accompanied by his wife, the Chief Justice was briefed by the village’s Director, Ms. Kokab Batool Qureshi, upon their arrival.
According to a statement by Press Information Department, the SOS Village in Peshawar is a charity organization funded through private donations, currently housing around 121 children of various ages up to 25-26 years. The institution provides boarding, education up to the Master’s level, technical skills, and arranges marriages for the children.
During the visit, the Chief Justice and his wife interacted with the children, joined them for lunch, and encouraged them in their academic and extracurricular pursuits. Justice Afridi emphasized the importance of education for personal and societal benefit.
The Chief Justice praised Ms. Qureshi’s efforts in maintaining discipline and high educational standards at the institution. He assured both the children and the management of his continued support whenever needed.
