New Delhi, A bomb hoax led to the evacuation of over fifty schools in New Delhi and its suburb Noida on Wednesday, after a threatening email sparked widespread panic among students, parents, and school authorities.
According to Kashmir Media Service, officials reported that the email, which resulted in massive disruption across educational institutions, prompted immediate searches by police teams, bomb disposal squads, and dog squads. Despite the extensive safety checks, authorities confirmed that no dangerous materials were found, and the threat was deemed a hoax.
Delhi Police stated that after a thorough inspection of the affected schools, nothing objectionable was discovered. “It appears that these calls seem to be hoax,” mentioned the Delhi Police in a statement, highlighting the recurring nature of such false alarms in the region.
The incident affected thousands of children from grades 1 through 12, causing distress among parents who rushed to schools to ensure their children’s safety. Television footage captured anxious parents gathered at school gates throughout Delhi and Noida.
Delhi’s Education Minister, Atishi, urged calm and reassured the public that school authorities were coordinating closely with parents to manage the situation effectively. Some schools that had not received the threat also took proactive measures to communicate with parents about the safety precautions in place.
The Home Ministry indicated that security agencies were taking all necessary steps to address and mitigate any potential threats, although no specific details about the measures were disclosed.
This event adds to a series of similar hoaxes targeting schools in New Delhi in the past, underscoring ongoing challenges in ensuring security and stability in educational settings.
