As a temporary arrangement, City District Government Karachi has given the Malaria

Karachi: City District Government Karachi has first time started spray on walls inside houses. However, during the first phase of campaign fumigation was being carried out in and around the houses of dengue fever patients. Over 40 thousand houses will be covered in this phase.

The insecticides used in this campaign would kill mosquitoes glued to walls of such homes for four months. The spray will pose no threat to the lives of humans or animals nor would it affect the paint or colour on the wall.

Administrator/DCO Karachi Mohammad Hussain Syed launched the campaign by performing spray on a wall inside a house.

In a briefing on this occasion it was informed that a new technology was being used for house to house fumigation in the city. A total of 25 spray teams had been formed for extensive fumigation and 150 officials were trained specially for this purpose while over 50 thousand kg of insecticides was purchased.

Different teams have been formed for spray which would perform spray on the walls of infected house and surrounding houses.

On Monday City government completed fumigation on walls of houses located in different areas of SITE Town, Mianwali Colony, North Karachi near Peela School, North Nazimabad Haroon Hights Sector-11, Keamari Town, Shabbir Nazim Bldg Street No.44, Gulberg Town near Dastagir Colony, North Nazimabad Town Block-J, Korangi Town Nasir Colony Sector 32-B and D-Area Qayyumabad.

Administrator/DCO Karachi has directed to increase the number of spray teams in city so that more houses could be covered daily.

He reiterated city government pledge to completely eradicate dengue virus from the city and expressed hope that the new strategy of house to house spray would help achieving this target.
