Quetta, The Balochistan Civil Secretariat Officers Welfare Association expressed serious concerns regarding bureaucratic inefficiencies and questionable appointment practices that are reportedly affecting the province’s administration and development.
According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Balochistan, the association criticized the delay in implementing legal procedures approved by the provincial cabinet, which are crucial for overcoming the backwardness of Balochistan by reforming the stereotypical district system. They highlighted recent questionable appointments, such as the placement of a non-cadre, junior officer in a senior grade 20 position, as symptomatic of broader governance issues.
The association pointed to specific cases where junior officers were appointed to high-grade positions under dubious circumstances, including the Director General of Anti-Corruption and the Director General of Local Government in Balochistan. These actions have led to contempt notices from the Supreme Court of Pakistan to the Secretary S and GAD and Chief Secretary of Balochistan.
In response to these challenges, the association pledged to resist any forms of injustice and urged Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti to address these issues promptly. They called for a reevaluation of appointment practices and an audit of Balochistan House Islamabad, pointing to previous mismanagement that had been audited but ignored.
The statement reflects growing discontent among civil officers and underscores the need for transparent and lawful administrative practices to foster effective governance in Balochistan.
