Benazir Income Support Programme and National Commission on the Status of Women to explore possibilities of working together to uplift the socio-economic status of the women

Islamabad: Besides poverty alleviation both on short and long terms basis, the socio-economic empowerment of the women in the country is the prime objective of the various initiatives of Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP). Madame Farzana Raja, Chairperson BISP said this while talking to a delegation of National Commission on the Status of Women (NCSW), led by Ms. Anis Haroon, Chairperson NCSW here at BISP Secretariat on Wednesday.

Madame Farzana Raja on the occasion presented details of the various measures of BISP aiming at bringing positive change in lives of millions of beneficiary families across Pakistan. She added further that dissemination of cash grants and provision of other facilities by BISP is being made through women head of these families; hence, these pro-poor measures of BISP are making significant contribution in the women empowerment in the country.

The delegation appreciated the performance of BISP including reaching out to more than 6 million families and to uplift the socio-economic conditions of the women in society.

It was decided on the occasion that BISP and NCSW would explore the possibilities of working together for the cause of women empowerment to bring about a positive change in the lives of millions of women across the country.
