British Deputy High Commission partners with Standard Chartered Bank to plant trees in celebration of Pakistan’s 71st Independence Day

Karachi, August 13, 2018 (PPI-OT): An event to celebrate 71 years of Pakistan’s Independence was organised today by the British Deputy High Commission, Karachi in partnership with Standard Chartered Bank. Approximately 50 children between the ages of 11-15 years from Edhi Foundation were invited to mark the occasion.

This mirrors the Government initiative to plant trees all over the country. The children from Edhi Foundation were provided free of cost meals by KFC, Pakistan under their Bhook Mitao campaign.

British Deputy High Commissioner and Trade Director for Pakistan, Elin Burns, said:

“To celebrate the 71st independence day of Pakistan the teams from Standard Chartered and the British Deputy High Commission decided to contribute towards a cleaner and greener Pakistan with children from the Edhi Foundation.

On behalf of everyone at the British Deputy High Commission, Karachi, I wish Pakistan a very happy 71st Independence Day and hope for a bright and prosperous Pakistan in the future.”

Commenting on the community engagement at the event, Shazad Dada CEO, Standard Chartered Pakistan said: (TBC)

“We are delighted to partner with British Deputy High Commission for the fifth year now. This year we are contributing to the environment by planting trees at the British Deputy High Commission premises with the help of children from the Edhi Foundation. Tree plantation initiative is a good way to demonstrate to the younger generation how to control pollution in the environment.”
