Business Community lauds Islamabad Capital Territory’s Notification for providing better social security services to industrial workers

Islamabad, December 03, 2012 (PPI-OT): The businessmen in a meeting at Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry highly appreciated the notification issued by the Chief Commissioner, Islamabad Capital Territory on 30th November 2012 for withdrawing conferment of power upon Director, Social Security, Government of Punjab as Collector 1st Class within the revenue limits of Islamabad Capital Territory and termed it a positive step.

Accordingly, henceforth local administration will collect the employees’ social security contribution from Islamabad-based industries, which was previously being collected by the Punjab Employees Social Security Institution.

Presiding over the meeting, Mr. Mahmood Ahmed Warraich, Senior Vice President, Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry termed it a very wise decision as this arrangement will provide better social security services to industrial workers of Islamabad and will also rid the industries of the federal capital from the blackmailing tactics of Punjab Employees Social Security Institution.

He said it was a long standing demand of the local industries that ICT should take over the collection of Employees Social Security contribution from Punjab Government as industrialists were experiencing many undue pressure tactics from PESSI on this account while the industrial workers of federal capital were also facing lot of problems in getting better services from PESSI.

The businessmen thanked the Chief Commissioner ICT for meeting their long due demand and hoped that collection of employees social security contribution by the ICT will produce better results for the employees as well as for the local industry. Theyassured the ICT of their best cooperation for providing better social security services to industrial workers and uplifting their living standards.
