Islamabad, July 23, 2014 (PPI-OT): Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry has called upon the CDA to issue the agreed Board Tax tariff @ Rs.60/sq yds in order to resolve shops advertisement board tax issue on priority basis.
Khalid Chaudhry, Acting President, Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry said that few months back, CDA had made 100 percent increase in the shops advertisement boards tax and traders had launched strong protest against this move.
He said under the instructions of Mr. Amer Ahmed Ali, Member Administration, CDA, Mr. Hamza Shafqaat, Director Municipal Administration CDA had held a meeting with traders and it was agreed that CDA should charge board tax @ Rs.60/sq yds.
CDA had assured that after the approval of its new budget, CDA officials would collect the board tax and contractor would have no role in this regard. He said complaints are pouring in against the contractors for collection of board tax and he appealed to the Chairman CDA Mr. Maroof Afzal and Member Administration Mr. Amer Ahmed Ali to issue instructions to Director DMA for issuance of notification of board tariff @ Rs.60/sq yds.
Khalid Chaudhry said all market associations in Islamabad have already been informed about collection of board tax by CDA officials, while about the branded boards, CDA would revise its tariff. He appealed to all market associations to cooperate with CDA for board tax payment @ Rs.60/sq yds and don’t pay heed to any contractor’s demand for board tax.
He said due to controversy over board tax tariff, traders had stopped payment of board tax. However, as new tariff has been agreed with CDA, they should cooperate with CDA. He also stressed upon the CDA to issue agreed board tax tariff to remove any confusion.
