CM Maryam Nawaz Sharif Sets Ambitious Revenue Goals for Punjab Revenue Authority

Lahore: Chief Minister of Punjab, Maryam Nawaz Sharif, has issued directives to the Punjab Revenue Authority (PRA) to boost its revenue collections by Rs 50 billion, focusing on measures that will not burden the common man. This goal is part of a broader initiative to enhance funding for social welfare projects across the province.

According to Punjab Portal announcement issued on 10 August 2024, the new strategy was outlined during a meeting with Nauman Yusuf, the new chairman of the PRA, where Chief Minister Sharif emphasized the expansion of PRA’s operational scope to include an additional 12 districts. These districts include Murree, Attock, Jhelum, Kasur, Sheikhupura, Mandi Bahauddin, Bahawalpur, Okara, Khanewal, Muzaffargarh, DG Khan, and Toba Tek Singh.

Further, CM Sharif instructed the integration of the PRA’s database with the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) for real-time data sharing, enhancing efficiency and transparency in revenue collection processes. The meeting, which also included Chief Secretary Zahid Akhtar Zaman and Secretary Finance Mujahid Sher Dil among other officials, marks a significant step towards modernizing revenue management and supporting the economic stability of Punjab without impacting the lower and middle-income segments of the population.
