CM visits Gujranwala, Hafizabad; removes Gujranwala DC over poor cleanliness

Lahore, January 12, 2019 (PPI-OT): Chief Minister Punjab Sardar Usman Buzdar visited Gujranwala and Hafizabad today. He visited the District Police Lines, Teaching Hospital, Gujranwala Development Authority, Model Police Station and Government Leather Technology in Gujranwala, while he also reviewed cleanliness situation in the city. He expressed annoyance over poor cleanliness situation and ordered the removal of the Deputy Commissioner Gujranwala over negligence on duty.

He also ordered the suspension of the director general Gujranwala Development Authority (GDA)over the complaints of corruption in the authority during the tenure of the previous government and announced that CM Inspection Team will investigate the corruption complaints. During the visit of the Teaching Hospital and a meeting held at the Circuit House, he ordered the removal of the chief executive officer health from the post while taking notice of the complaints against the health facilities. While he also announced that the CM Inspection Team will hold inquiry into the corruption complaints in the Wasa.

Senior Minister Abdul Aleem Khan and Spokesman for CM Punjab Dr Shahbaz Gill also accompanied the chief minister. In the District Police Lines, he visited the memorial of martyrs and paid tribute to the sacrifices of the martyrs. He said those who sacrificed their today for the sake of the peaceful tomorrow are the real heroes of the nation. He said the peace in the country is the result of their sacrifices. He also planted a sampling in the District Police Lines and prayed for the success of the tree plantation. The chief minister also talked affectionately to the children of police officers. He also visited the Resource Management Centre at the police lines.

He was briefed about the centre. The chief minister visited the Gujranwala Teaching Hospital. He inspected the trauma centre, gynaecology ward and other departments of the hospital. He inquired about the health of patients and asked them about the provision of medical facilities and medicines. While taking immediate notice on the complaints of some of patients about the treatment facilities, he directed the hospital administration to provide them medical facilities. He said the cleanliness arrangements should be improved in hospitals and damaged ceiling should be repaired.

He said the emergency should be extended keeping in view rush of patients and the number of operation theatres should also be increased. The shortage of doctors and nurses should be overcome and process of setting up of new ward of 100 beds should be reviewed. Necessary equipment will be provided at priority to the hospital. He said new package is being bringing about for specialists and anaesthetists. He also asked the doctors and nurses about their problems and assured them to resolve their problems. He said he has come here to resolve problems of patients, doctors and paramedical staff.

He said improving healthcare system is his mission and he is personally vising hospitals for this purpose. He said patients should not have any complaint in hospitals. He listened to problems about the Gujranwala Development Authority (GDA) during his visit to the authority. He said GDA has a vital role in the development of the city and we will make GDA a best institution. Corruption will not be tolerated. The chief minister also visited Model Police Station in Model Town and inspected various sections of the police station. He also talked to the accused persons in the lock-up and checked the daily record of the police station. He also visited the conference room and the women staff room.

The chief minister, on the occasion, directed the police officials to support the oppressed and stop the aggressors. He said he will admire the good work of the police and will encourage the police officials for their good performance. He said he will not tolerate any injustice with the person who comes to the police station to get his problem resolved. He said the police should make themselves public’s police. He said police officers should hold open courts regularly and resolve problems of the people. Later, the chief minister reached the Gujranwala Institute of Leather Technology and visited the laboratories and other sections of the institute.

He was briefed about diplomas and courses offered by the institute. He said the youth can get jobs by developing their skills and TEVTA institutes have vital role in providing skills to the youth. He said the youth are our asset and we will provide them jobs by imparting them skills. The secretary industries briefed the chief minister about the performance of the institute. A meeting was presided over by the chief minister at the Circuit House Gujranwala. The chief minister suspended DG GDA over complaints of corruption and ordered inquiry into the corruption charges.

He said the Chief Minister Inspection Team will investigate the corruption charges and submit its report. The chief minister also ordered the removal of the deputy commissioner over the poor cleanliness arrangements in the city and the chief executive officer health over complaints regarding public health sector. He directed the deputy commissioner to report to the S and GAD. He said he will visit Gujranwala after 15 days again and review the situation. The meeting decided that the corruption charges against Wasa and GDA will be investigated by the Chief Minister Inspection Team.

The chief minister expressed annoyance over the poor cleanliness arrangements and ordered to improve the solid waste management. He said he has reviewed the cleanliness arrangements during his visit to the city. Cleanliness arrangements are poor and should be improved. He said recommendations should be given regarding best utilisation of the land retrieved from the qabza mafia. Meanwhile, the Chief Minister also talked to leaders and ticket holders of the PTI. Talking to them, he said workers are an asset of the party, their problems will be resolved and he will contact them regularly in future.

He also distributed wheelchairs among the special persons and expressed sympathy with them. Later, the Chief Minister visited Hafizabad. He went to the DHQ Hafizabad and reviewed medial facilities there. The chief minister asked the patients about the provision of medicines. The chief minister went to the emergency, indoor pharmacy, surgery and medical wards, and CCU. The chief minister directed that the shortage of ventilators in hospital should be resolved.

He said patients should get medicines and medical aid facilities. The government is committed to providing medicines to all patients who arrive in hospitals. The chief minister also visited the District Jail Hafizabad. He inspected barracks and asked prisoners about their problems. He ate the food provided to prisoners to check its quality. He inspected the kitchen of the prison. He directed a TV set should be provided to every barracks. He asked employees of the jail about their problems and assured to resolve them. He said he is visiting police stations and jails along with hospitals. We will correct this system and he is personally taking review of the situation.
