Commissioner orders completion of Tannery Zone Projects

Karachi, April 15, 2014 (PPI-OT): The Commissioner Karachi, Shoib Siddiqui has ordered to complete all ongoing projects in Tannery Zone of Korangi Industrial Area. In a meeting with the delegation of Pakistan Tanners Association (PTA) SZ, led by Fawad Jawed along with Vice Chairman Rehan Hannan, former Chairman Danish Khan and Secretary A Majeed Bhatti while Acting MD, KWSB and other officials of civic agencies and police were present on the occasion.

The Commissioner has ordered the KMC to allot a plot of land ST 18, for setting up gas pumping station for Tannery Zone in order to provide proper gas pressure to the industries as the tanning factories are complaining low pressure of gas that hurting industrial production. He also ordered to immediately remove solid waste from the area.

He further instructed the official concerned to regularly remove the solid waste in order to keep the area clean. He also ordered the Deputy Commissioner Zubair A Channa to remove all encroachments from the area particularly the oil tankers of National Refinery due to which the traffic remains clogged on Road 5000. On issue of water supply from KWSB water trunk main, he instructed the acting MD, KWSB Najam Alam to make it possible to supply allocated quota of water to the tannery Zone through newly laid water supply line.

He warned that if the eater into the newly laid pipeline would not the released the pipeline would be cracked and a huge amount of Rs44 million would go waste. The Chairman PTA, Fawad Jawed said on the this occasion that water scarcity in the area is badly haunting the industries and many of them are threatened to close down due to non-availability of water which is the major raw material in the industry.

He said that KWSB could easily supply the water to the area by imposing rotation system and supply the water to all the industries amicably. He praised the Commissioner Karachi for taking all the urgent issues of the Tannery Zone on priority.
