Complete strike observed in occupied Kashmir

Srinagar, March 04, 2013 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, normal life was affected, today, due to a strike call by the Muttahida Majlis-e-Mushawrat, a conglomerate of pro-liberation organizations to press the demand for return of mortal remains of martyred Kashmiri prominent liberation leader, Muhammad Maqbool Butt and Muhammad Afzal, and against the death of a Kashmiri research scholar in India.

Despite strict restrictions, thousands of people including Hurriyet leaders, Zafar Akbar Butt, Yasmeen Raja, Dukhtaran-e-Millat General Secretary, Nahida Nasreen, Jamaat-e-Islami spokesman, Advocate Zahid Ali, and head of Jamiat-e-Ahle-Hadith, Ghulam Rasool Malik participated in the funeral of the Kashmiri scholar, Mudasir Kamran Malla at Parigam, in Pulwama. His body was received amid pro-freedom and anti-India slogans. His kin and locals said that Mudasir Kamaran was killed for his pro-Aazadi stand by authorities in Hyderabad.

The leaders on the occasion while demanding an international probe into the death of the research scholar said that the torture marks were seen on the body of the victim, adding that Mudasir Kamran was killed. He urged that all Kashmiri detained languishing in Indian jails should be shifted to Kashmir.

Mudasir Kamran (25), a PhD scholar was enrolled in an institute in Hyderabad; Andhra Pradesh in India was found secretly hanged in his hostel room Sunday at the campus.

“Mudasir Kamran was murdered for leading funeral prayers for Mohammad Afzal Guru,” the Muttahida Majlis-e-Mushawrat statement said.

On the other hand, all shops, public transport and other businesses remained closed in Srinagar and other parts of the Kashmir Valley.
